WHO-CIDI Instrument Choice | ||||||||||||
|
At first glance, the CAPI version of the CIDI is likely more appealing than its PAPI counterpart. However, there are some issues that should be thoroughly examined before making the decision to use the CAPI instrument. This can be done by asking yourself and your colleagues a series of questions. This series of questions attempts to assist in assessing ones "technical infrastructure" and answering the following question, "Do I/we have the technical infrastructure in place to administer the CAPI instrument?". The thematic issue of ones technical infrastructure is the most important issue in making your choice between PAPI and CAPI. Therefore, we want to offer you a series of questions to help guide you in making a well-informed decision before choosing to use the CAPI instrument. Further discussion of this will be made in your in-person training. If you are currently thinking that we are trying to discourage the usage of the CAPI instrument, then you understand what we are attempting to present here. Are we saying that there is something superior about the PAPI instrument or that the CAPI instrument has something inherently wrong with it? No, the intent here is to prevent something that happens all too often when an individual selects the CAPI instrument only to find out they were not fully prepared for its complexities. The following questions (although not exhaustive) are meant as a primer in guiding one in determining if the necessary technical infrastructure exists in order to use the CAPI instrument. |
