This project tracks the changing delivery and financing of mental health care in the United States. It builds on the approach used in the book Better But Not Well, by Richard G. Frank and Sherry Glied. A large number of national surveys, datasets on providers, and administrative databases are used to track patterns of mental health care delivery and payment. A chart book on mental health in the United States will be released in November 2007.
This project also tracks the well-being of people with mental disorders, including monitoring the quality of care, the economic and social outcomes for people with mental disorders, and changes in the technology of treatment. This project is being conducted jointly with Sherry Glied from Columbia University.
