HCP’s Richard Frank to Take Leave of Absence to Work in DC

HCP’s Richard G. Frank, PhD, will be taking a leave of absence from the department beginning in September. He has been appointed as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Policy and Evaluation in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS). His areas of responsibility will be analysis and policy development related to aging, disability, long-term care and mental health issues in the DHHS. This appointment will permit him to take a leadership role in policy evaluation and development on issues that he has studied for the past 30 years. When asked about the position, Frank says, “I see this appointment as a great opportunity and I believe that it will enrich and inform my teaching and research, enabling me to make new contributions to the Harvard Medical School and the University when I return.” HCP will miss seeing Dr. Frank about the department, but we are happy to share his valuable health policy skills with DHHS.
