Michael McWilliams, MD, PhD, an HCP assistant professor of health care policy and of medicine at Harvard Medical School, won a Milton W. Hamolsky Junior Faculty Award for his presentation at the 32nd annual meeting of the Society of General Internal Medicine (SGIM) held on May 13-16 in Miami Beach, Florida. The Milton W. Hamolsky awards are given to up to three junior faculty individuals for outstanding scientific presentations at the Annual Meeting. McWilliams discussed "Medicare Spending for Previously Uninsured Adults,” and earned himself the honor.Â
In addition to his appointment at HCP, McWilliams is also an associate physician in the Division of General Medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. In 2007, when McWilliams was a student at HCP in the Health Policy program, he won a Mack Lipkin, Sr. Associate Member Award for his presentation at the SGIM meeting on "Intensity of Health Services and Costs of Care for Previously Uninsured Medicare Beneficiaries." McWilliams’ research has caught the attention of many, and if you would like to read the abstract of his latest talk please see page two of the following link.
