Mass-DAC releases 2007 reports

The cardiac surgery hospital reports developed by HCP’s data coordinating center, Mass-DAC, directed by HCP Professor of Health Care Policy (Biostatistics) Sharon-Lise Normand, PhD, have been an important source of information for the public—and for the hospitals themselves. The team has just released its reports for 2007.

Under a contract by the Massachusetts Bureau of Health Care Safety and Quality, the Mass-DAC team has been assembling and analyzing data collected from all acute care nonfederal hospitals in Massachusetts performing cardiac surgery since 2002 and coronary interventions since 2003. The latest reports for coronary artery bypass graft surgery and for percutaneous coronary interventions describe hospital-specific mortality rates for adults undergoing these surgeries from October 1, 2006, through September 30, 2007. These reports are available as PDFs on the Mass-DAC website. From the home page, choose Public Reports from the links on the left.

The results of these newest reports have received widespread media coverage, including articles in the Boston Globe, the Wall Street Journal, and USAToday.
