HCP Head Barbara McNeil honored with Career Achievement Award from SMDM

At the 30th Annual Meeting of the Society for Medical Decision Making, held on Monday, October 20, HCP Head Barbara J. McNeil, MD, PhD, was honored with the Career Achievement Award. The award recognizes influential work in medical decision making, and McNeil was honored for her “work in the 1970s and early 1980s [that] was seminal, broad-ranging, and is still frequently cited.” Her most acclaimed contributions include the development of methods for optimizing the use of diagnostic tests, early applications of utility assessment, and the first medical example of framing bias in preference assessment. This prestigious award is well deserved, and HCP congratulates McNeil on her major and continuing impact in health care policy and research.
