In a recent issue of the journal Inquiry, HCP Associate Professor David C. Grabowski, PhD, presented a critical evaluation of the study of long-term-care markets. Grabowski’s comprehensive review focused on identifying initiatives that will increase the volume and quality of long-term care research. This paper was commissioned for a conference on health care markets sponsored by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality and was one of five papers in this issue of Inquiry that “provide critical and current assessments of data used in measuring, analyzing, and discussing a central, policy-relevant concept in health care—health care markets.” Another of the invited articles was coauthored by HCP Professor Michael E. Chernew, PhD; this paper focused on health insurance and labor markets.
