Thomas D. Sequist, MD, MPH, an HCP assistant professor of medicine and health care policy, has won a Milton W. Hamolsky Junior Faculty Award for his presentation at the annual meeting of the Society of General Internal Medicine held April 25-28 in Toronto. Sequist spoke on "Physician-Level Performance and Racial Disparities in Diabetes Care" (click here for abstract). In addition to his appointment at HCP, Sequist is an associate physician at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and a practicing general internist at Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates.
Two other members of the HCP community also won awards for their presentations at the SGIM meeting:
- Amal N. Trivedi, MD, MPH, a recent postdoctoral trainee at HCP, spoke on the "Effect of Cost-Sharing on Screening Mammography in Medicare Managed Care Plans." Trivedi, who is currently an assistant professor of community health at Brown University School of Medicine, won a Milton W. Hamolsky Junior Faculty Award.
- J. Michael McWilliams, MD, an HCP student in the PhD in Health Policy program, won a Mack Lipkin, Sr. Associate Member Award for his presentation on "Intensity of Health Services and Costs of Care for Previously Uninsured Medicare Beneficiaries." McWilliams is also a fellow in general medicine at Brigham and Women's Hospital.
