Benjamin Cook, a researcher at Mathematica Policy Research, Inc., and a recent graduate of the PhD in Health Policy program at HCP, received the 2007 Dissertation Award at the AcademyHealth Conference on June 4 in Orlando. His dissertation, The Hunt for the Right Counterfactual: Estimating Disparities in Minority Health Care, was honored as an outstanding scientific contribution from a doctoral thesis in health services research. While a doctoral student at HCP, Dr. Cook’s concentration was in evaluative science and statistics. His dissertation committee consisted of Thomas McGuire, PhD (chair), Ellen Meara, PhD, and Alan Zaslavsky, PhD.
