Innovative methods for causal inference, hierarchical modeling, latent variable modeling, multiple informant analyses, and missing data, applied to collaborative research in cancer, cardiology services, or psychiatric epidemiology. Requires doctorate in statistics/ biostatistics, communication skills, interest in both methodology and applications. Two years starting between July and September 2008.

Statistical Programmer/Data Analyst

Duties & Responsibilities:
The Department of Health Care Policy is looking for a junior level SAS programmer to participate in analysis of a landmark series of national and international mental health surveys carried out under the auspices of the World Health Organization. This position involves working within a fast-paced interdisciplinary team on statistical analysis of survey data. Statistical analysis includes, but is not limited to data cleaning and variable construction, development of descriptive statistics, standard model fitting and checking. Involves working with multiple, large datasets by formatting, merging, and sub-setting them to meet the analysis goals. The programmer will make independent decisions about how to implement analysis most effectively and accurately and how to report results. The programmer will ensure that tables, figures and text accurately reflect the results of the analysis and should be able to understand statistical foundations behind models. The programmer will be closely supervised by the Statistical Program Director and will work closely
with the Principal Investigator, Program Director, Data Manager, Senior Statistician and analysis team members. This position is grant funded through June 30, 2010.

Required Education, Experience, Skills:
A bachelor's degree in statistics with 5 years' experience or a master's degree is preferred. SAS programming skills and experience with survey data required, preferably in a UNIX environment. Good verbal and writing skills are necessary, as well as the ability to collaborate within a multidisciplinary research group.
